August Favorites || a.m. Friendly Products

Hey guys!

This past month has been really exciting, I got to enjoy the last three weeks of my summer break (no work)! It was so much fun! I went to the beach and a theme park called Knotts Berry Farm in Buena Park, CA. 

However, after all that fun I started school again! Which is both exciting and stressful. Now that I started school I wake up around ~5:30 am. (At least I try)! I have to be out the door by 6:30 am, so I need easy to use products. This month, I will share with you the products that have saved me a bunch of time.

I have been using these shadows every day! Depending on my mood I use Colourpop's 'La La', elf's 'Brownie Points' or elf's 'Cruising' Chic'. 

I don't need a primer or a brush. I use my finger and blend them out. They are absolutely gorgeous and will not crease and last all day. (I'm at school for at least 10 hours at least three times a week). 

'La La' is the PERFECT rose gold. 'Brownie Points' is a gorgeous dark bronze. 'Cruisin' Chic' is an everyday taupe. (It looks silvery in the swatch, but it's definitely a taupe). 

These work perfectly for me as I LOVEE my neutrals. 

I have been using both these brow products interchangeably. Either Wet N' Wild's Ultimate Brow Kit in 'Ash Brown' or elf's Essential Instant Brow Pencil in 'Neutral Brown'. 

I can use either or but I prefer using them together. On most days I will grab for the brow pencil because it's super quick to use. On days when I have more time I use both. 

Both match my hair well. I will say the 'Neutral Brown' is tiny bit lighter than I like, but I can build it up. 

The tip on this brow pencil is not as small as the Anastasia pencil, but it works for me as my browns just need to be filled in. 

Bh Cosmetics 'Wild and Radiant' Baked Illuminating & Bronzing Palette is just so gorgeous. When I have more time to play I use these shadows. I do prefer using the shadows over an eyeshadow base or wet. They don't show up to their full potential dry (at least that's my opinion). 

Meet Matt(e) Nude by the Balm has been a staple for a long time. However, I always use it in combination with a shimmer/metallic/glitter eyeshadow palette. I am not a big fan of matte shadows on their own. If you need a palette with only mattes I HIGHLY recommend you check this one out.

BH Cosmetics Haul || Eyeshadows, Blushes, Brushes and More :: Cruelty-Free

Hey guys. I wanted to share this big haul! Before I share the pictures, just know this is a haul and mini-first-impression(s). I only got my order in yesterday.

 Also, I know this might seem sponsored because it's all BH Cosmetics, but it's not. (I wish it was, hey BH work with me!) No, it's definitely not. I just really wanted to try BH Cosmetics as I literally didn't own anything from them.

Wild & Radiant: Baked Illuminating & Bronzing Palette ($8.00) 

You can use these shadows on the face, eyes, and body. Also wet or dry. 

I did wear three of the shades today and I am impressed. I love these golden-champagne tones!

Two left swatches correspond to the two upper shadows.

Two right swatches correspond to the two lower shadows. 

Daisy: Floral Blush Duo ($4.00) 

I have worn this one and I really, really liked it! I thought it was going to be a bit on the cool-er side(the blush at least), but it's surprisingly warm. The highlight has more yellow than pink undertones. I can see it working well on both fair and medium skin tones. 

One thing I noticed (upon swatching) the blush shade is a bit chalky. However, on the skin it's lovely and the powder is silky smooth. 

Tulip: Floral Blush Duo ($4.00) 

The powder is super silky! The color is definitely more coral than pink. Not at all chalky.

The "highlight" shade is GORGEOUS! It's more of a blush and highlight in one. It's very orange, but I can see it warming up the skin, while giving a 'J-Lo glow'!

bh Party Girl: Moisturizing Balm Stick ($2.50) 

I used a coupon-code from RetailMeNot (be sure to check this site out, not sponsored) and got two free surprises. This is one.

The color is 'Rendezous'. I am not a big fan. It's very beige and frosted. I might use it for a center highlight on the lips. 

bh Cosmetics Eyelash Curler ($3.00) 

This is another free gift I got using the code. 

bh Cosmetics || Eye & Lip Makeup Remover ($2.95)

It was $2.50 at the time I bought it. I have it used it (once) so far so good. The only con it's only 2.7fl oz, which seems small to me. I guess it's a good size to try out, before you buy a bigger size. I think I'm going to go through it quickly. 

Sculpt and Blend: 10 Piece Brush Set ($20.00) 

If you want, I can do a separate post with an in depth review on these guys. I really wanted more face brushes, so I went with these. Fingers crossed they're good. 

So far they are SOO soft! 

P.S. I got the 11 pcs Pink-A-Dot Brush Set for my sister. This past Christmas and she loves them. 

10 Pc Pop Art Brush Set: Makeup Brushes  ($16.00) 

I have been eyeing this EVERY single time I went on the BH site. I think they are so beautiful and so I finally did it, I finally bought them. They are so super soft as well. I will also be reviewing this set in individually (if you are interested please let me know). 

Plus, I love the container they come in. So cute to display them in. 

 I really hope you enjoyed this post. If you're anything like me, I hope you enjoyed the pictures. Might sound funny, but I LOVE looking at pictures of makeup. It's a guilty pleasure of mine.

No ingredients or products tested on animals. We are an independent local manufacture, so we are the ones to decide how the products are tested.

We use Carnuaba wax in our lipstick. None of our ingredients are organic because a lot of ingredients we use do not come in an organic form.

 8. Could you provide a list of all of your current vegan items available for purchase?

Our Cream Rouge, Crimson and Apricot are Vegan.

I'm glad that they addressed and answered all the questions.  I would feel safe purchasing from them! They were very nice and open throughout our correspondence, which has nothing to do with their cruelty-free status but it's much appreciated.

30 Day Blog Challenge || My Blog's Name | Day 1

Hello friends. So I decided to take on this 30 Day Blog Challenge. I first heard about this from the lovely Kelly from TheVeganTaff. She is currently on day eleven. Honestly,  it was only two days ago that I started following her with this challenge and I get excited to read her posts everyday. So definitely check her blog out.

Day 1-  Your Blog's Name

I wish I had more of an exciting story for where the name HumanelyChic came from. 

I don't though. 

I just liked how it sounded. 

In the beginning I wanted the name to be Humanely, Naturally but the HTML name was HumanelyChic. I debated changing it a lot. I decided not to because I didn't want to confuse my loyal followers. I thought if I changed the name they wouldn't be able to find my blog. 

Also, if you followed my blog back in the day (September of 2012). You would know that I would constantly change the design/layout of the blog. Looking back, YIKES that's soo annoying. 

These headers are evidence of my constant re-design of this blog. LOL.

I never really thought much about this, but I'm really glad I have all these headers. It just shows how far this blog has come. 

Wow. I can't believe this September will be my two year blog birthday. I did not celebrate the first birthday. I will be sure to do something special this year. 

My blog-birthday is September 19, 2012.

Humane Cosmetics Act || USA to ban animal testing? MUST READ

Hey guys.

I got an email on March 6, from a PETA representative. I haven't been able to share it because I've been really busy with school. I'm sure you guys, by now, must of read or heard of the law that had been proposed to make animal testing required in the USA.

Well, this is what I received in the email:

March 6, 2014 Re: Congress Member Jim Moran's Humane Cosmetics Act PETA applauds Rep. Jim Moran (D-VA) for introducing the Humane Cosmetics Act, which would ban tests on animals for cosmetics and phase out the sales of animal-tested products. Poisoning an animal for a human product makes about as much sense as using a map of Paris to find your way around New York. Animal tests are scientifically baseless and ethically wrong, and consumers have made it clear that they should be illegal, too. Since September, more than 72,000 people have contacted their congressional representatives through PETA's online action alert and urged them to ban these cruel tests. We urge Congress to pay attention and pass this bill. For information on the more than 1,300 companies that have banned tests on animals, please see PETA's online Beauty Without Bunnies cruelty-free database.

 From what I have researched, this act hasn't passed, yet! Imagine if animal testing became illegal? WOW!!!!! This would make not only all those beautiful creatures free, help our planet, but make it so much more easy to shop. (Which, of course is the least of the advantages of this law. But still just picture it!)

I urge you to contact your the Congressman that represents you! The HumaneSociety, allows you to use a template to contact your representative to urge them to support this act. You can call, send emails, or even tweet them.

 If you are like me, and didn't know who represents you can find them -using your zip code- on House.gov (the site for the US House of Representatives).

I know that with all our voices this act won't be a dream for long but rather became a reality.

Bubble T Cosmetics | Animal Testing Inquiry

I've become paranoid about using companies logos. I don't want to get in trouble, so for now I'll either not post a picture to accompany an article or will s a pic of their site & link them. If you are a lawyer, let me know what the legal wrought to take. :) 

Hey guys! THis is going to be a fun & different post. I have wonderful readers that email with the information they have found about companies. Which I appreciate a lot, seeing as if more of us email a company the more that company is pressured into answering our questions.

Well, a beautiful reader named Adele (not sure if you want your last name displayed) sent me her correspondence with Bubble T Cosmetics. It is very thorough & awesome so I asked her if I could share it with you all. I had never heard of this company until she messaged me about it.

If your answer is no, how do you ensure that your manufacturers do not test?We don't use a 3rd part at all - we use a small manufacturer in the south of England where all our products are hand made - we have quality control employees who will assess the production line once our products are being made in bulk.

Do your manufacturers test ingredients or products on animals?Our manufacturers don't test on animals for us or for any other brands that they provide for - we take pride in the fact that we are against animal testing and were BUAV approved until it was compulsory in the UK to not test on animals 

4. Are you owned or affiliated with any companies that test products or ingredients on animals?We are affiliated with our sister brand 'Nougat London' who also have the same morals and ethical view on animal testing - using the same manufacturer and supplier. 

5. Do you have a parent company? If so who are they? 'Nougat London' 

6. Do you/your parent company currently or have plans to market and sell your products in the Chinese market, which requires animal testing by law to sell in that country? 
Bubble T and Nougat both do not sell products in China currently - prior to selling in the market each and every formulation needs to be registered with a fee which is why we are not considering this for the moment. 

7. Do you use palm oil/carnuaba wax in any of your products? If so, is it from an organic and sustainable source? 
We do not use either of those ingredients 

8. Could you provide a list of all of your current vegan items available for purchase? We cannot verify if any of our products are vegan -

What awesome research! Adele sent me this a while back, but I haven't had time to post anything until today. So, sorry about that. 

I would definitely feel safe purchasing from them. I will email their company: Nougat London,;just to make sure there are no contractions with what is listed above. (I'm a perfectionist what can I say?) 

Other than not testing their raw ingredients on animals, having a compliant parent company with the same views on animal testing, and not selling in China; I think it's awesome that they are accreddited by BUAV.
